“Nab’Ubomi gave me a platform to experience what ‘ubomi’ [life] is in all aspects. It has been the most amazing, exhilarating, mind blowing experience that has tremendously shaped my career path today. It is a home that I know I’ll always have a plate, a spoon and cup to eat and drink from. A well of opportunities for aspiring filmmakers in the Eastern Cape but with its growth, it is attracting a lot of filmmakers nationally. I am currently an intern at The Media Workshop in partnership with Urban Brew for a 13 part sitcom for the Bay. I have an SABC documentary that I directed through training under Nab’Ubomi up my sleeve and will continue to direct and edit other great documentaries. It’s all thanks to Nab’Ubomi for believing in me, even when I didn’t believe in myself at times. They saw the potential beyond. A great team to be part of and got nothing but mad love for them.” – Akhe Beku
